I’ve said it many times, but I honestly can’t get enough of the feeling the first cup of coffee brings in the morning.
So, I’m happy to report that Starbucks is bringing a new location to Starkville in the future building at Triangle Crossing Shopping Center at 601 Hwy. 12 W.
Developer Mark Castleberry told me he began constructing the new space in July after completing a deal with a national brand earlier this year, though he didn’t announce until this week it was Starbucks. One other business will be located in the space next door but has chosen to remain anonymous so far.
“Our second business is a relocation, and that’s why they are more sensitive about announcing right now,” Castleberry said.
Construction of the space is expected to be completed by 2024.
Once open, the new Starbucks will be the fourth in Starkville, with two others along Highway 12 and one on the Mississippi State University campus.
But Castleberry isn’t the only one working to expand.
In West Point, Mitch Bulley, owner of Bulley’s Lodge, a butcher shop and seafood market in Caledonia, is opening his second location in the former Farmhouse Market at 3229 E. Church Hill Road on Sept. 28.
Bulley said he took over the business from the previous owners Sept. 1. Then he closed it and started renovating. So far, his team has rearranged the kitchen, removed the snow cone and coffee machines and is now landscaping to spruce the place up.
“The previous owners of the farmhouse felt like they wanted to get out from underneath it, and they felt like I was a good choice to make an offer because they had heard good things about what we did in Caledonia and the business,” Bulley said. “The building has a lot of potential, and they wanted somebody who could maximize that and bring some really good things into their community.”
Bulley said to start out, the business will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will also feature lunch options such as deli sandwiches and even cooked steaks. Once he works out the kinks, he will expand to Tuesday through Saturday under the same business hours.
“West Point, being a bigger demographic,” he said. “We’re excited to be able to expand with a bigger place and have a full menu and have more seating.”
In Columbus, a new counseling group has moved into its new digs at 423 College St., next to The Columbus Packet.
Owner Chad Clardy said the office opened last week and has already started seeing patients.
“Columbus just kind of fell into our laps and it worked out great,” Clardy said. “We’re going to have an all-inclusive access to our care facilities.”
Clardy said he found an opportunity to locate the business in Columbus when a friend offered to give up his lease. With the new location, he hopes to bring general counseling services and therapy to those in need.
The counseling center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone interested in their services can contact the office at (662) 205-0098.
Finally, my friends, The Clean Team, a professional cleaning service based initially in Ackerman, has moved its headquarters to Starkville, owner Ramae Allen said.
Allen said she had been serving customers in the Starkville area since 2021 but finally decided to move the business’ main office and storage space to 506 Academy Road to further expand in the Golden Triangle.
“The business is just growing,” Allen said. “We started off with four or five clients in Starkville to maybe even 50 or 60 clients now.”
Allen said with the new space, she can now expand the business footprint in the area and offer more services to its clients, which include cleaning individual houses, apartments and even businesses.
“It has made it so much easier,” she said. “When I was living in Ackerman but working in Starkville, and someone left the mop bucket behind, that’s a heck of a trip for a mop bucket.”
Those interested in her services can reach Allen on the business’ Facebook page.
Well, folks, that’s all for now. Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business.
