Well, folks, nothing hits the spot like some classic Texas-style Barbeque, and Craig and Michele Fant, owners of Bluto’s Tavern, plan to deliver just that.
Fant told me she and her crew are nearly finished renovating the former Breakfast Club building at 105 Eckford Drive and will open The Joint, a Texas barbeque restaurant, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
“We took a little bit more time opening this one,” Fant said. “I’m obviously very excited about it because it’s Texas barbecue. It’s something we don’t have in town and we try to provide something we don’t usually get.”
Before they can turn the open sign on, though, Fant said they still need to take care of the landscaping in front and install a cover for the smokers located out back.
Hours for the restaurant will be Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until they run out of food. So, the earlier you come, the better chance you get to try those beef ribs I am so keen to get my hands on.
But The Joint isn’t the only food-related business making its way to Starkville next week.
Kirk Hutchinson, owner of Power of the Almond, will reopen his bakery at 7 a.m. Monday in its brand new location at 608 Hwy. 12 E. next to Starbucks.
Hutchinson said he has been renovating the new space to replace his original location at 60 Technology Blvd. and can’t wait to hit the go button on the new spot.
“This week, we’re wrapping up the final interior design details and installing last-minute things I didn’t think of, like an ice maker and telephone lines,” Hutchinson said. “We’re super excited to finally be in a great location with foot traffic. Our new interior design layout will cater to students looking for a place with a good vibe to study and business professionals needing somewhere to meet up during lunch.”
Moving to Caledonia, Lynn and Rick Conner are opening C&W Farm, a new pumpkin patch and play area come Sept. 29 on Jack Wiggins Road.
Conner said she and her husband have planned to open a pumpkin patch for a few years, complete with wagon trains, hay bail rides and corn mazes.
“It’s something we’ve wanted to do since Country Pumpkins shut down, but just now I felt that we were at a spot in our lives where we could do this,” Conner said.
Conner said the business will be open Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. Customers can also schedule after-hours campfire parties and special events at the venue.
Interested parties can contact Connor via the businesses’ Facebook page for more information.
Finally, my friends, it’s always nice when we can work closer to home.
Well, it would appear that Golden Triangle Family Eye Care, an optometry clinic, has taken the sentiment to heart.
Office Manager Lynzie Richardson said she and her husband, Nicholas, decided to move the business from its original location at 428 Hospital Drive to 9692 Wolf Road in Caledonia and rebrand it as Caledonia Vision Center.
Richardson said the clinic finished renovating the new space last week and reopened Tuesday.
“We wanted to give back to our community and kind of make it more of a community clinic in the aspect that we’re going to be in Caledonia,” she said. “We want to be closer to home.”
Well, folks, that’s all for now. Make sure to check back in next week for more goings on in business.
