Four people were hospitalized Wednesday after two cars traveling in the left westbound lane on Highway 82 collided.
Sgt. Derrick Beckom said Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the accident just after 7 a.m. near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport exit.
Beckom told The Dispatch a 2014 Honda Accord with only the driver inside collided with the rear of a 2010 Kia Soul carrying a driver and two young passengers.
Both drivers and one young passenger were taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. A second young passenger was airlifted from the scene to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Beckom had not been updated on the condition of the victims by press time Wednesday.
The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, Beckom said. Traffic stalled on the highway for roughly two hours as the crash was cleared.
