A Eupora man was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash in western Oktibbeha County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Randall Davis Buford Jr. was driving a white 2001 Chevrolet S-10 west on Highway 82 near Douglastown Road around 5:30 p.m. when he collided with the back of a westbound 1996 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 42-year-old Timothy Cook, of Mathiston. Buford was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cook was not hurt, said Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Brian Mobley.
“It”s a sad situation,” Mobley said.
Westbound Highway 82 was shut down for 45 minutes to an hour after the accident, Mobley said. Traffic backed up in the eastbound and westbound lanes.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident.
