Mary Acree elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
BATON ROUGE, La. – Mary Acree, of Columbus, was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Memphis. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership.
NEMCC welcomes over 240 to prestigious honor society
BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College’s Iota Zeta chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society welcomed approximately 240 students into the international honor society during its spring 2025 induction. The following local students are from Caledonia: Summer Rose Coggins and Brandon Ray Nichols; Columbus: Sophia Leigh Johnson; Hamilton: Jacourey Laquint Miller; Starkville: Jacob Fisher Edwards and Otto Miles Hyche; and Steens: Ava Margaret Logan.
EMCC VP of Instruction Dr. James Rush garners national PTK award
SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College Vice President of Instruction Dr. James Rush is among a select group of people who will receive Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2025 “Distinguished College Administrator” award.
Each year, Distinguished College Administrator award recipients are recognized at PTK’s annual convention, which will take place April 3-5 this year at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Rush, who is an EMCC alumnus, was inducted into the college’s Scooba chapter of PTK as a student in the early 2000s. He has worked for EMCC since 2007 and has served in numerous capacities as an instructor, advisor and counselor. In 2019, he was named interim vice president of instruction. In July 2020, he officially assumed the position of vice president of instruction.
A-State announces students graduating at fall 2024 commencement ceremony
JONESBORO, Ark. – Arkansas State University released their list of fall 2024 graduates. The following local students are from Columbus: Maya R. Rush; and Starkville: Mitchell Rutledge.
