Local school districts reported a successful first day of school Thursday.
“It went very well,” said Lowndes County School District Superintendent Mike Halford. “As far as the school buses running in the morning to taking (the students) home, it was a very good day for us. A lot of staff and school administrators produced a very good first day for us.”
“We have had a wonderful day,” said West Point School District Assistant Superintendent Robin Miles. “We worked hard and were prepared for students and they came right in and were ready for us. We were able to get everybody in class and we”ve had a good, productive day today.”
Students in the Clay County School District, the Oktibbeha County School District and the Starkville School District also began school Thursday.
Students in the Columbus Municipal School District went back to school Wednesday.
