The Columbus Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a West Point man who is a person of interest in burglarizing “Pay Site” kiosks at area convenience stores.
According to a CPD press release, investigators are looking for Roger Moore, a contractor with a company that installs and maintains the kiosks. CPD did not disclose Moore’s age.
The kiosks, located in convenience stores, offer customers the ability to pay bills, including utility bills.
Police want to talk to Moore in connection with the burglary of the kiosk at the Sprint Mart at Highway 69 South and Yorkville Road about 9:30 a.m. Monday.
According to CPD, Moore is known to employees of the store and reportedly told employees he was repairing the machine. After he left they discovered that the cash drawer had been drilled out and emptied of money.
The kiosk company told CPD a similar burglary happened in Starkville last week, making this the second known incident.
CPD publicly released store surveillance footage Tuesday, as well as a still shot from that footage showing Moore.
CPD asks anyone with information on these cases to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or use the P3 Tips smartphone app. Tips are anonymous, and there is a cash reward if they result in an arrest.
