A Columbus woman has been formally charged with murder after her boyfriend was stabbed to death last week.
Chaddy Mae Brooks, 27, of 300 Lehmberg Rd, Apartment 153, was charged Monday morning. Danielle Gore, 37, died Friday.
The incident occurred at the couple’s Cypress Park apartment just after 11 a.m. After she allegedly stabbed Gore, Brooks called 911 and told operators there was a victim with a knife wound to the neck. When emergency responders arrived, Gore was dead. The official cause of death is not being released pending an autopsy but a kitchen knife was taken from the scene. Brooks’ blood-stained clothes were taken into evidence, as well, according to authorities.
A downstairs neighbor heard the couple arguing before Gore’s death, according to investigators with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department. Between them, the couple has five children. Two of the children were at the apartment at the time of the stabbing. They are currently in the custody of Brooks’ father.
Neither Brooks nor Gore has any prior arrests with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department. She is employed at Belk department store while Gore was employed with McNeese Construction.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been set.
Brooks is in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
