A Columbus teen remains in jail today, charged with shooting his father the day before Father”s Day.
Sixteen-year-old Jonathan Jackson of 807 22nd St. N. was arrested at 12:28 a.m. Saturday, for shooting his father, James Earl Williams, police reported.
Williams told officers he was walking home from nearby Sim Scott Park on 20th Street North when he heard three gun shots. After he got home, Williams felt pain and noticed he had been shot around the groin, Columbus Police Department Cpl. Donnie Elkin reported.
He was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment. The CPD”s Criminal Investigations Division took over the investigation, which is ongoing.
Jackson is charged with one count of aggravated assault.
No bond or preliminary hearing has been set.

The following other incidents were reported by the Columbus Police Department:
n Officers responded to the America Best Value Inn at 510 Highway 45 N., Friday, at 6:45 p.m., in reference to a robbery. A 26-year-old white male told officers that two black males entered his room; one was wearing a white T-shirt, and the other was wearing a white tank top. One of them pushed him onto the bed. The second man took an undetermined amount of cash from the victim”s wallet, and the men left running toward Seventh Avenue North. The victim chased the men until they got into a vehicle and left the area. A third black male was waiting in the vehicle and drove away with the two suspects after the robbery. The victim got the tag number of the vehicle and gave it to 911. Officers located the vehicle a short time later behind a residence at 1515 22nd St. N.
n Officers responded to 634 31st Ave. N., Friday at 9:52 p.m., in reference to an armed robbery. A 26-year-old Hispanic male reported two black males knocked on his door; one was wearing a black T-shirt with blue jeans, and the other was wearing a camouflage jacket with black jeans. When the victim opened the door, one of the black males was wearing a ski mask, the victim reported. The man pulled out a handgun and entered the apartment. The victim began to fight with the two men, and they ran south through the parking lot. Nothing was taken during the incident.
