E-911 and the Columbus Police Department received a total of 3,177 calls for service in August, according to reports released by the CPD.
In July, the Columbus Police Department had 2,919 calls for service, many of which — 513 — were traffic related.
Traffic-related calls — 725 — again dominated the report for August.
Disturbance calls followed well behind traffic calls with 289; 220 calls involved reports of a suspicious person, vehicle or circumstances, and 210 were commercial alarm calls.
In August, there were 335 disturbance calls; 183 reports of a suspicious person, vehicle or circumstances and 179 commercial alarm calls.
The CPD made 126 total arrests in August. Fourteen were felony arrests; 112 were for misdemeanor charges; 113 arrests were made by the CPD in July.
The CPD logged a significant decrease in juvenile complaints in August; there were 76 juvenile complaints in July compared to 39 in August.
As part of a new strategy, the CPD began in August to release crime statistics.
The reports will be released monthly for the month prior and used to “analyze problem areas and help implement prevention strategies,” according to a press release from the CPD.
