A gunman walking through the parking lot of Medical Arts Pharmacy in Columbus fired upon a motorist early Wednesday morning as the driver attempted to turn off Fifth Avenue North onto Military Road.
Terrie Songer, public information officer for the Columbus Police Department, said at approximately 1:18 a.m. Wednesday, a driver approached officers working a case at Second Avenue and 10th Street North and told them a black male wearing a white shirt fired shots at his 2004 GMC Yukon, shattering the back window, as he slowed down to make his turn.
The shooting is the third in a week.
John Easley Jr., 45, remains at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle following a Tuesday night shooting at 2201 Fifth Ave. S. Easley was shot three times — once in the lower abdomen, once in the arm and once in the hip.
On July 31 at 2:30 a.m., shots were fired into an occupied home at 430 Idlewild Road. Songer said people in the home heard a loud noise and glass breaking, went to investigate and discovered a bullet hole in the door. No one was injured.
Songer said all three shootings remain under investigation.
