A Columbus man has been arrested for murder.
Devonte Jones, 20, of 2006 Cherry St., was booked into the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sunday. He faces charges of murder and aggravated assault, according to jail records. Jones was transported to the jail from the Columbus Police Department.
CPD Capt. Brent Swan declined to say if Jones’ arrest was related to a Saturday morning shooting that killed 24-year-old Joshua Richardson. Another man, who is not being identified by CPD officials, was also injured in the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Cherry and Peach streets around 1:30 a.m.
Jones remains in the detention center awaiting bond. He does not have any prior felony arrests or convictions in Columbus or Lowndes County, according to jail records.
