In mid-July, Columbus residents will get the chance to review a draft of a comprehensive plan for the city.
A meeting Thursday marked the last workshop on the plan”s concept. At the next public meeting, June 9, planners will discuss implementation and public investments.
The review of the plan draft will be July 14, with public hearings following at dates yet to be announced.
Columbus citizens met for the third time Thursday to discuss the comprehensive plan that will guide the city”s development, tackling land use and transportation issues this time.
The least-attended of the planning meetings, Thursday”s session had only about 15 community members present.
The city”s design firm, the Birmingham, Ala.,-based KPS Group, gave a recap of past meetings in the Trotter Convention Center”s downstairs banquet room before turning the floor over to city engineer, Kevin Stafford.
Stafford covered current efforts to increase accessibility and safety throughout the city as well as “complete streets” plans that will put bicycle lanes along some streets.
