LAMAR COUNTY, Ala. – Two Columbus Air Force Base pilots ejected safely from an aircraft Tuesday in west Alabama.
The pilots were flying a T-38 Talon II in a training exercise at about noon when they ejected over a rural area near the Fayette/Lamar County line, said Adam Prince, public affairs director for CAFB.
“They have been recovered. They are alive,” Prince told The Dispatch. “We are assessing their injury status if any.”
The cause of the mishap is still unknown, Prince said. The plane was located and the crash scene secured.
Officials will release more information as it becomes available, as the Safety Investigation Board investigates. Prince could not offer further details by press time.
