Kids grow very quickly.
Kaylie Gibson has always hated buying cute children’s clothes at a high cost, just to have her children grow out of them before the end of the year.
That problem led Gibson, along with her mother, to form Kid’s Cavern Clothing Company.
“It’s always hard to find kids’ clothes that are reasonably priced,” Gibson said. “We wanted to open up a store for everyone where the clothes aren’t so expensive.”
Gibson plans to open her store downtown by October at 110 Fifth St. S., formerly Rae’s Jewelry. Though some details are still up in the air, Gibson said she intends to stay open after 5 p.m. to help accommodate working families.
“It’s a family-owned company,” Gibson said. “… We’re excited to bring this to the community. I’m a big supporter of family owned stuff and shopping local. We are just excited to bring that here in Columbus.”
Gibson added she is still working on Kid’s Cavern’s social media, but be sure to check out our new clothing store’s social media once it’s live.
Moving to Starkville, we’ve got a new nail salon.
Villa Nails Bar and Spa, 327 Hwy. 12 W., opened in late July.
The nail salon next to Umi offers manicures, pedicures, body waxing and even has two body massage stations.
“It’s not your average nail salon,” salon manager Hailey Elkins said. “We want people to give us a chance. Our prices are a little higher, but the quality of work is worth it.”
Villa Nails Bar and Spa is open for appointments and walk-ins Monday through Saturday 9 a.m.-7 p.m.. As an opening special, the nail salon is also offering 20-percent off until Aug. 13.
Also in Starkville, there’s a new martial arts location.
Fearless Martial Arts opened this month at 821C Hwy. 12, next to China Garden.
The martial arts gym is open Monday through Friday from 2-7:30 p.m. This is the second location for owner Josh Buford, with the first location opening in Mathiston.
“My family and I are beyond excited and blessed for the opportunity to serve families here in Starkville,” Buford said. “If there is anything we can do for you, your child or your family: Please reach out to us.”
Fearless Martial Arts offers kid’s martial arts, adult self-defense and both kid and adult fitness classes.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, kids 3 years and up can train for free with real Power Rangers. Be sure to register online and check out Fearless Martial Arts on Facebook for more information.
We’re rounding out The Golden Triangle with West Point.
A drive-thru Checkers is coming to town. In fact, you may have noticed construction, but if you blinked then you probably missed it. The West Point Checkers’ location was built from a pre-manufactured module, meaning the restaurant started construction Wednesday and will be nearly complete by the time this prints.
The restaurant at 230 U.S. 45 Alt. should be open by September.
This is the first Checkers built in our area and owner Sedrick Turner’s fifth location in Mississippi.
The drive thru restaurant will be open Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.
