Good things come to those who wait.
Smoothie King has officially started its dirt work for the long-anticipated Starkville location.
News circulated Starkville as early as 2016 for the Smoothie King location. Those plans finally have structure. Smoothie King has a site plan approval, architectural approval and an active building permit with the city.
Feast your eyes across the Middleton Court shopping center for progress on the new Smoothie King at 308 Hwy. 12.
Starkville’s location will mark the only Smoothie King in the Golden Triangle area, accompanying more than 1,300 franchise stores worldwide.
The Dispatch did not hear back from Smoothie King representatives by press time today.
While you’re waiting on your smoothie fix, you might have a few things lingering around your home that need to be fixed.
Harris Handyman Services LLC opened earlier this year in Eupora. Owner Brandon Harris started the handyman company that serves Starkville, Columbus, West Point and surrounding areas. You can call 662-753-9898 for a free quote.
If you list it, they can probably fix it. Handyman services include bed assembly, drywall work, light fixture installation, power washing, sink repair, baby proofing, yard work and more.
We’ve got bright news in Columbus. We’re getting more crawfish.
A Hole in the Wall BBQ and Crawfish Shack, 4314 Hwy. 69 S., had its grand opening Saturday. Owner George McGee Jr. opened the restaurant in the Exxon gas station near Lake Lowndes Road.
McGee is also taking live crawfish orders for Saturday pickup. If you’re interested, reach out to McGee by Wednesday to enjoy the crawfish. As McGee continues to expand, he’ll add more menu items.
For now, A Hole in the Wall will be open Saturdays starting at 10 a.m. McGee said he’ll have crawfish, Andouille sausage and boudin for the time being. When his new venture picks up, he said he’ll add hours and hopefully build an outdoor patio for live music.
“I saw a need that needed to be filled,” McGee said. “People kind of like my food so I’m going to give it a shot.”
For those folks wondering what the crawfish tastes like, well, it’s about as Cajun as it comes.
“My crawfish cook is from the Atchafalaya Basin area in Louisiana,” McGee said. “It’s good authentic Cajun crawfish.”

Also in Columbus, Family Dollar will soon open its third location.
The new Family Dollar is located at 60 Mike Parra Road and will be open every day 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A Family Dollar representative could not be reached by press time today, but the website has the new location listed as “opening soon.”
