Liberty Steel Products Holding, of North Jackson, Ohio, has acquired a majority interest in Mississippi Steel Processing, 400 N. Steel Road in Columbus.
MSP is a roll processing company with the capacity to produce 750,000 tons annually at its 245,000 square foot facility. They offer slitting, leveling and cut-to-length products. MSP President Chip Gerber announced the acquisition in a press release provided Wednesday night.
“We are excited for the future of MSP and our partnership with Liberty,” Gerber said in the press release. “The experience and reputation of Liberty in the industry is a welcome addition to our team at MSP.”
MSP has been open in Columbus since 2011.
Liberty Steel Products was founded in 1965 and is ranked in the Top 50 steel service centers by Metal Center News. They process coated cold rolled and hot rolled steel.
Gerber owns Steel Forest Furniture in downtown Columbus. Steel Forest handcrafts custom steel and wood furniture.
If you’re driving downtown in Columbus, you might see a sign reading “Impressions by Susan.” Susan McKay, who currently owns Party and Paper on Main Street, said she hopes to open her new venture at 424 Main St. in early November. She said she will keep Party and Paper open until then.
McKay’s new store will focus primarily on printing and personal merchandise for a number of events, including graduations and weddings, and even business cards and pens. She said she will also offer gift-wrapping for those who struggle to wrap the perfect gift, even if it was not purchased in her store. She will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Downtown developer Chris Chain owns the building McKay is moving to.
If you’re looking for a new and safe way to tan, Kate Cryder is opening her first brick-and-mortar organic spray-tan business in mid-October. She started her company, Gypsy, four years ago and rented a space in The Pod Salon and Spa on Bluecutt Road. Gypsy will open its new location later this month at 109 Fifth St. S. in the space formerly occupied by Fin’s Bobby Pin. The building is owned by The Commercial Dispatch.
Cryder said she offers organic, vegan, natural and gluten-free solutions with apple, coffee, cranberry seed extract and coconut oil bases. She will be open from Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled online at tangyspy.co, and a personal consultation is included to ensure the proper shade and product is applied to each customer’s skin tone and type.
Across town, Brickerton Day Spa has a new owner. Amy and Matt Bogue closed the purchase Monday. Amy said business will run as usual at its current location but hopes to add medical treatments to the menu in the near future.
The Bogues also are involved with Dutch Oil Company and own the Allegro Clinic.
Over in Starkville, a new nutritional store has opened its doors at 500 Russell St., Suite 18. Starkville Nutrition, which offers a variety of healthy shakes and loaded teas, held their grand opening in late August. It is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Thrive Health, formerly located on Highway 12, moved to 500 Russell St., Suite 29. Owners Clare and Megan O’Nan decided to move closer to Mississippi State University to increase their customer base. If you’re looking for acupuncture, Chinese medicine or CBD oil, walk-ins are welcome Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
