Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is searching for suspects connected with a burglary that took place at the Dollar General on 181 South Frontage Road over the weekend.
The burglary took place at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, shortly after the store was closed for the evening, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said.
Officers responded to the break-in after the alarm company was notified and arrived to find the front door “smashed in.”
Multiple tobacco products and a cash bank were stolen from the store, Hawkins said, though he was uncertain of the amount of inventory and cash that was stolen. Tobacco products littered the parking lot from where the suspect or suspects escaped.
Officers have reviewed security footage, though Hawkins said it has not revealed much.
“We don’t know if it was one suspect, two suspects or multiple,” Hawkins said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information about the robbery can give an anonymous tip to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
