Harbor Freight Tools is open in Columbus.
The tool and equipment retailer is located at 1601 Hwy. 45 N., right beside Miller’s OK Tire Store. Its hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
The California-based business, which sells “more than 7,000 tools and accessories,” according to its corporate website, began in 1977. Since then, more than 600 locations have opened. The Columbus location is the first in the Golden Triangle.
The Dispatch placed calls with store management Wednesday to find out how many employees the business had. We did not hear back by press time.
Moving on.
Over on Fifth Street North in Columbus, the offices of Curtis Optometry Clinic & Dispensary have expanded.
Dr. David Curtis said earlier this week that his office at 1823 Fifth St. N. has taken in the offices of Dr. W. Dean Chow, which sit right beside Curtis’ office. The move takes Curtis’ offices from 3,900 square feet to 6,100 square feet. The expansion will help with patient flow.
Curtis Optometry Clinic & Dispensary opened in 1982. The current office was built in 1987. Today, the business has four doctors and 12 employees.
Lastly, we want to clear up some bogus chicken news.
Floating through many Facebook feeds is word that on Friday, from 5 to 9 p.m., Chick-fil-A will be offering all-you-can-eat chicken nuggets and waffle fries for $12.99.
The news is true, but only for one Chick-fil-A in the world — the one located in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
The Tampa Bay Times contacted the eatery’s corporate office regarding the offer. Apparently, the Chick-fil-A in St. Pete Beach promoted the event via Facebook and that post went viral, creating the confusion.
“It is just that one St. Pete Beach location, not all Chick-fil-A’s,” company spokesperson Mark Baldwin, told The Tampa Bay Times. “This happens sometimes when individual restaurants do promotions. They have to be extremely clear that it is just one location.”
