Authorities with Lowndes County Sheriff's Office are asking citizens to be aware of a recent scam claiming LCSO has a warrant out for victims' arrest and that they must pay fines to avoid arrest.
LCSO received several calls about the scam on Wednesday, according to a department press release. The scammers have specifically named deputies who work for LCSO as part of the scam, the release says.
Investigators are asking anyone who receives a call from someone claiming to be a representative from LCSO to call the sheriff's office at 662-328-6788. The press release emphasized not to send any money or give any credit card information to the scammers.
