A Starkville teen is being charged with armed robbery after he allegedly broke into a house and robbed a man in Artesia on Wednesday.
Devonte Davis, 19, of 56 Pearline Lane in Starkville, turned himself in to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Davis is being charged for his alleged role in robbing a man at gunpoint. Davis had a “long-barrel” gun believed to be an assault rifle, according to investigator Ryan Rickert.
“He had the weapon, demanded cash, got a little bit of cash and took off, headed back to Starkville,” Rickert said.
The victim was not injured.
The robbery occurred just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rickert said Davis escaped with less than $100 in cash.
Davis does not have a criminal history in Lowndes County. He is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center awaiting bond.
