Local law enforcement agencies in Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties arrested 15 suspects for driving under the influence over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Columbus police led the way with six DUI arrests in that span, according to numbers it released publicly Monday.
The department issued more than 200 traffic citations and arrested 19 suspects for various other charges.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office made eight arrests between Thursday and Sunday, including two for DUI, and issued more than 40 traffic citations, including speeding and reckless driving, according to numbers Sheriff Eddie Hawkins provided.
Starkville Police Department Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady told The Dispatch SPD made 14 arrests over the holiday weekend, two of which were for driving under the influence. The department issued more than 70 traffic citations during that span.
Captain of Investigations Brett Watson said Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office had five DUI arrests between Thursday and Sunday and 14 arrests total.
