STARKVILLE– A chase that began at the Sprint Mart on Highway 12 West and ended at the Walmart supercenter just down the road has landed a Natchez man in jail.
Nickolas Jackson, 19, was arrested Sunday morning after the Starkville Police Department received a call of him threatening a woman at a convenience store with a firearm.
According to an SPD press release issued Monday, Jackson fled the gas station when officers arrived and led them on a half-mile-long chase to Walmart at 1010 Hwy. 12 W. Once there, Jackson abandoned his vehicle and ran into the store. Officers then apprehended and arrested him.
“Our officers were able to successfully contain Jackson and apprehend him shortly after entering the store.” the release read. “A firearm was recovered. No one was injured in what was obviously a dangerous situation.”
Jackson was booked into Oktibbeha County Jail and charged with felony fleeing, simple assault by threats, two counts of disturbance of a business, resisting arrest, concealed deadly weapon, and no car tag.”
