The Community Benefit Committee and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office are once again partnering for the annual Turkey Drive.
The drive aims to ensure local families can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal by providing frozen turkeys donated by community members in need.
“Thanksgiving is a time for family and gratitude, and no one in our community should have to go without a holiday meal,” Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said in a press release. “We’re asking everyone who can to step up and help us reach our goal of 2,500 turkeys this year.”
County residents, businesses, churches and civic organizations can donate a frozen turkey at the sheriff’s office at 527 S. Martin Luther King Drive from now through Nov. 19.
Turkeys will be distributed at 10 a.m. Nov. 22 at the BankFirst Yards Sports Complex. The only requirement for recipients is a valid Lowndes County ID.
