Columbus, Starkville and West Point are gearing up for the holiday season after announcing the dates for the cities’ annual Christmas Parades.
Columbus will hold its parade on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m.
The theme of this year’s parade is “Christmas Around the World,” and the Grand Marshal is Aundrea Self, WCBI anchor and host of “Mid-Morning with Aundrea.”
The route will take the parade down Main Street and back up College Street.
“Since Christmas is a special time around the world, we can’t wait to see what comes to mind with our parade participants,” said Barbara Bigelow, executive director of Main Street Columbus.
Caledonia will host a Christmas parade Saturday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
Starkville
Starkville’s parade will be held on Monday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. on Main Street.
The theme of the parade is “Christmas Movie Magic,” and the Grand Marshals are Samantha Ricketts, Mississippi State University head softball coach, and Julie Darty Dennis, MSU head volleyball coach.
“This year, Starkville is celebrating our 50th annual Christmas Parade,” said Paige Watson, director of Main Street for the Greater Starkville Development Partnership. “We are really excited and are looking forward to it. We are very appreciative of Reed’s for sponsoring this again, as well.”
West Point
West Point will hold its parade on Monday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The theme is “A Cowboy Christmas.”
“Our theme is ‘A Cowboy Christmas,’ so I am excited about that and excited to have horses and cowboy related Christmas floats in the parade,” said Lisa Klutts, director of community development for the West Point Clay County Growth Alliance.
The announcement also teased a new Santa float for this year.
The Grand Marshal for West Point’s parade has not been named yet.
