Junior Auxiliary of Columbus visited students at Stokes Beard Elementary to bring back its fitness program: Fit and Fabulous Forever, or F3.
F3 was created to address childhood obesity and educate elementary aged children on the importance of nutrition and physical activity.
Students participated in small groups at interactive stations, which included a balanced meal relay, jump rope, hula-hoop, disc golf, and a weighted backpack race. Throughout the stations, children were given opportunities to learn how to create healthy meals and fun ways to stay physically active.
JA member and project chair Laura Catherine Yeatman said it is important for children to learn healthy habits while they are still young.
“With schoolwork, busy lifestyles, and increasing electronic usage, it’s so important to teach kids at an early age the importance of fitness and nutrition,” Yeatman said. “We hope that F3 motivates these students to move more and make balanced food choices while having fun all at the same time.”
Active JA members will present F3 later in the fall to West Lowndes Elementary and Sale Elementary.
