Three men robbed the Dollar General store on Highway 12 Wednesday night, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
Hawkins said the robbery was “very similar” to the one Monday on Highway 182 east of Columbus, but he stopped short of saying they were definitely connected.
About 10 p.m. three men walked into the store, located at 6044 Highway 12. They were masked, wearing gloves and had their heads covered, Hawkins said.
The clerk was back in an office area, he said, and one of the robbers forced the clerk to open the cash register. He handed the drawers to his accomplices, who dumped them into what was apparently a garbage bag.
The men then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, Hawkins said.
Nobody was injured. The pistol was very similar to the one used Monday, Hawkins said.
“It’s very possible it was the same people, but I don’t want to say for sure,” he said.
