Starkvillians craving a good Jack’s burger don’t have too much longer to wait.
The Jack’s Family Restaurant will open its location at 780 Louisville St. on Jan. 26, according to a press release the company issued this week. The first 50 customers on opening day will receive free Jack’s breakfast for a month.
In other restaurant news in Starkville, one plans to move this summer and leave a prime downtown space up for grabs.
Arepas Coffee and Bar owner Jose Elarba said he intends to move Arepas to a smaller location in Starkville. The Venezuelan coffee shop that opened downtown in 2019 will remain open until July or until a new restaurateur opens shop in its place.
“We are not the owners of the building; we rent the place. But we are selling everything ours inside,” Elarba said. “… Whoever buys will change the name and sell the food they want but everything else is set up ready and running.”
At long last, Godfather’s Pizza is officially open in the Midtown Development at 401 University Drive. Check out the new pizza joint every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There’s a new gift shop open in Starkville!
Pretty N Pressed Designs, 317 MLK Drive, Suite 215, opened Saturday next to Spiller Furniture.
Owner Alicia Marie first started personalizing coffee mugs during the COVID-19 pandemic to earn some extra income at home. Marie’s clientele grew over time and her business quickly outgrew her space at home.
“I wanted a way to earn money from home,” Marie said. “So I decided to make coffee mugs. One day, I added a photo that gained a lot of attention and customers. My coffee mug idea quickly expanded into many more items being added and overcrowding home space with supplies.”
Pretty N Pressed Designs sells tumblers, mugs, keychains and nearly everything that can be customized. Check out Starkville’s new shop Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Moving to Columbus, there’s an old horse with new tricks.
When Zachary’s owner Doug Pellum gets an idea, he really takes off with it. You may have seen a horse trailer making its rounds throughout the Golden Triangle. However, this horse trailer isn’t pulling hay, it’s bringing the Part-ay!
The Tipsy Bronco, Zachary’s mobile bar, is bucking its way throughout Mississippi.
“I’ve seen it in big cities and actually decided to do one of my own,” Pellum said.
The Tipsy Bronco can be rented out through Zachary’s with or without a bartender. Pellum said it’s perfect for house parties, weddings and more. It’s a full-scale bar with four taps, specialty drinks and a margarita machine. So far, business has been so good Pellum is already renovating another horse trailer. Be sure to keep an eye out for Pellum’s second portable bar coming to a party near you. Give Zachary’s or Pellum a call for rates to rent The Tipsy Bronco.
Moving to West Point, there’s a new bank opening up soon.
The Bank of Commerce will open a branch in West Point by mid-March at 5549 Hwy. 45.
The lobby will be open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
“We are thrilled to be opening a new state of the art branch in West Point,” President Bruff Sanders said. “This is a huge opportunity for Bank of Commerce to further serve the Golden Triangle and the good people of Clay County.”
Bank of Commerce is a Mississippi bank with eight locations in Greenwood, Oxford, Starkville, Columbus, Charleston, North Carrollton and soon to be West Point.
