Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of an inmate this morning at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
The inmate was found unresponsive around 7:10 a.m. in a cell at the detention center, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials called in MBI to investigate the cause of death.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant took possession of the deceased and will not release the name of the inmate until the family has been notified, the press release said.
