For four months, Artie Sutherland has been delivering fresh seafood to the Starkville area.
Less than a month ago, he officially opened The Blind Tiger Butcher Shop and Seafood Express at 332 Hwy 12.
Customers can pick up from a selection of prime meat and fresh gulf shrimp, crawfish, crab, oysters and more Monday through Friday 4-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. TBT is closed on Thursdays so Sutherland can go to the coast and restock.
“We are so excited to be in Starkville,” the Mississippi State alum said. “The support has been unreal quite honestly. We’re hoping to continue being a Starkville store. We want to be a store of the people and make sure we grow with what everyone wants.”
Over time, Sutherland said he hopes to expand to offering lunch and dinner plates and possibly delivery.
Customers can also order specialty items online at tbtbutchershop.com for pick up on Fridays. Be sure to keep up with TBT on social media for updates, specialty items and more.
All aboard the booze cruise.
By the end of next week, Starkville residents can start ordering adult beverages from the comfort of their home.
Jordon Stong, owner of Booze Cruise, said customers can choose from a large selection of beer, craft beer, wine and liquor on the Booze Cruise app at www.boozecruise.app.
You drink, and he drives.
Customers must be 21 years old or older and must present identification upon delivery.
Be on the lookout for the new local delivery service and stay up to date with Booze Cruise on social media.
In Columbus, we have a bakery expansion coming our way.
Southern Flour Bakery, which has been open in Columbus for nearly a decade, has found a new home.
Owner Nicole Huff is very excited for the bakery’s new venture. By August, Southern Flour will move from Kroger Plaza to the former Yo’ Bar at 1902-2 Hwy. 45.
Huff is expanding from a 1,200 square foot bakery to about 3,600 square feet.
“We plan on expanding the menu, and we’re hoping to add another chef,” Huff said. “…We’re going to have a cake-decorating room with a window where people can watch us decorate cakes.”
Huff is hoping to add a café-esque menu with sandwiches, soups, salads and more. The new Southern Flour will also include a party room where Huff hopes to host cake and cookie decorating classes for private parties.
Huff is also looking to hire more employees, including cake decorators, bakers and front desk associates.
For Huff, leaving her business’ home for the past few years is tough, but she’s been able to see the silver lining as she takes her next few steps.
“I’ve always wanted a bigger spot,” Huff said. “I was upset at first having to move from (Kroger Plaza), but God is just working everything out. He’s just constantly helping me. Just when I think it’s a dead end, it’s not the dead end I thought it was.”
Keep up with renovations and more bakery updates on Southern Flour’s social media.
There’s also a new business downtown.
Evolutions on Fifth, 122 Fifth St. N., opened in the former Bella Derma Spa in May.
Pam Bolling, owner of the body enhancement clinic, first leased the space in February 2020. After more than a year of delays due to COVID-19, she’s excited to finally open her doors.
Evolutions on Fifth offers non-invasive body treatments for men and women, including Brazilian butt lifts, cryoskin toning, cryoskin slimming, crysoskin facials, teeth whitening, spray tanning and more.
The cryoskin machine technology uses heating and cooling to smooth out your skin. Bolling said the clinic measures before and after so customers can see actual results after treatments.
“We shape the tough areas that diet and exercise can’t reach,” Bolling said. “…I don’t back anything I don’t believe in. I’m a believer in this because I’ve seen the results. It really works.”
Evolutions on Fifth is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment only. Be sure to check out the business’s Facebook page for specials and updates.
