Columbus police are seeking suspects in two unrelated shootings over the weekend.
A shooting early Sunday at the La Quinta Inn on Highway 45 North sent a victim to the hospital with what authorities believe to be non life-threatening injuries, according to a police department press release. Another incident Saturday afternoon outside Old Navy resulted in no injuries.
Police responded to the La Quinta Inn at about 3 a.m. Sunday to reports a 16-year-old had been shot. The incident arose from a disturbance involving juveniles who were guests of another person who had booked the room.
“There was an argument over something there in the group, and one person shot another,” Police Chief Fred Shelton said in the press release. “At this time, we are still investigating the incident but believe we are searching for another juvenile.”
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for treatment.
On Saturday afternoon, a passerby reported the shooting near Old Navy, which the press release said stemmed from an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend.
“At some point, the boyfriend pulled a weapon and shot four times toward the female,” Shelton said. “Thankfully the shots hit no one.”
Police are asking anyone with information on either incident to submit an anonymous tip through the department’s P3 app or contact Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
