The Columbus Arts Council and Tennessee Williams Tribute are continuing the partnership to bring this year’s tribute production to the stage.
As with any good production, there must be a cast. That is where the open casting call comes in.
Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at CAC’s Rosenzweig Arts Center, there will be an open casting call for anyone 18 or older.
“We want the general public to come in,” said Salem Gibson, executive director for CAC. “If you are interested and passionate about acting or even just Columbus, be a part of this. It will be a two-day casting and rehearsal here at CAC, upstairs in the Omnova Theater.”
This year’s production will be “Eccentricities of a Nightingale” and it is slated for mid-September.
The play is bringing several “veterans” of TWT back into the fold.
“It’s one of those things where we have brought back a lot of longtime Tennessee Williams Tribute members,” Gibson said. “Melanie Tubbs is going to be our director this year. She’s no slouch. She knows exactly what she’s doing and is a pro at it.”
He added that anyone not interested in acting but interested in being involved should still reach out.
“There is a space and place for everyone,” Gibson said.
The partnership between CAC and TWT was established earlier this year, and the two worked together to bring the Stella Shouting Contest back during the Burns Bottom Arts Festival in March.
“Based on the attendance and the growth we saw, we wanted to continue to go forward,” Gibson said.
