A virtuous mother is a woman that has many characteristics, and these are just a few of them:
■ She works willingly for God and her children. When we work willingly for God we don’t have to wait for others to fulfill our needs or our children’s needs. God will use our hands to bless our family by giving us what we need to work with.
“She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.” (Proverbs 31:13 KJV)
■ She gets up early to seek God and prepare breakfast for her family before they go to school and work. When we rise early it gives us a chance to take control of our time, set priorities, and thoughtfully plan our day. God honors the effort of a woman who longs to give her best to Him and to her family.
“She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants.” (Proverbs 31:15 NKJV)
■ She works hard to provide for her children and she always depends on God’s strength to help her. With God’s strength it prepared us for the tasks ahead we have to face whether in our homes, workplaces, or communities.
“She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.” (Proverbs 31:17 KJV)
■ She is prepared and resourceful. We have to prepare our home for future needs and emergencies like this virtuous mother. Then our foresight will enable our family to thrive in all seasons because we take our responsibility seriously.
“She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.”(Proverbs 31:21 KJV)
■ She‘s very wise because she gets her wisdom from God and she imparts His wisdom to her children. When her children come to her with their problems, she always encourages them by giving them Godly advice. We have to do the same for our children.
Encouraging wisdom and kindness in our communication can create transformational changes not only in our lives but in our children’s lives and those associated with us.
“When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.” (Proverbs 31:26 NLT)
■ She manages her home well. As mothers let us be like this virtuous mother and attentive to the needs of our household. By doing this we will not be idle or distracted by vain pursuits. We will pay attention to our children and let them know that they are important, seen, heard and loved. “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.” (Proverbs 31:27 KJV)
So be encouraged today mothers and always remember: A virtuous mother like this deserves to be praised.
“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” (Proverbs 31:28 KJV)
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!
