Some of us have been going through some trying times in our lives; and we find ourselves saying, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.” During these times, we feel like God has forgotten about us and we start questioning God. “How long will thou forget me; O Lord? Forever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me? (Psalm 13:1) KJV
In life, we all face obstacles and challenges that seem never-ending. Just when we think we have overcome one hurdle, another one will come. When this happens to us, we have to realize we have the victory through Jesus over these things. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57) KJV
Sometimes it seems like before we can get out of one situation, another one will come. In times like these, we start complaining, “If it’s not one thing, it’s another.” The more we complain, the longer we will stay in our situation. So let us stop complaining and start praising God, and we see how our situation begins to change for the better. “I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.” (Psalm 86:12) KJV
We have all faced storms in our lives. At times, it may feel like when we leave one storm, we go directly into another one. It might be a medical issue, a marital problem, a legal issue, or something else. Regardless of what the storm is, Jesus can calm our storm. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. “He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.” (Psalm 107:29) KJV
All of us are dealing with some kind of trouble. We have trouble in our home: if it’s not the children it’s our spouse. We have trouble on our job: if it’s not the supervisor, it’s the co-workers. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Job even said it himself, “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1) KJV
There is always something to worry about. We worry about how we’re going to make ends meet with the rising cost of food, gas, and insurance. Let us stop worrying and start praying. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” (Philippians 4:6) NLT
“So be encouraged today and always remember: When we start going through one thing after another, we have to know that God is with us. “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:2) NLT
