As we enter the Thanksgiving season, we have so much to thank God for. We don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving Day to give God thanks; we should give Him thanks every day because He is so good to us. “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34, KJV)
Thankfulness should be a part of our daily routine. When we’re deeply rooted in thanking God, calling upon His name, and sharing His deeds, we impact others around us. As we commit ourselves to thankfulness, we open our hearts to be filled with thanksgiving, leading us to share His goodness through our lives. “Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.” (1 Chronicles 16:8, KJV)
Giving thanks to God sets the tone for our hearts, helping us focus on the positive aspects of life instead of the challenges we may face. By embracing thanksgiving, we foster a mindset that acknowledges God’s hand in our lives. “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.” (Psalm 92:1, KJV)
When we look over our life, we can’t help but give God thanks for all the many things He has done. He saved us, filled us with His Holy Spirit, healed us so many times, delivered us, and made a way when we couldn’t see a way out. As long as we live, we have a reason to give Him thanks. “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” (Psalm 30:12, KJV)
The fruit of our lips should continually give God thanks and offer Him a sacrifice of praise, whether we feel like it or not. We shouldn’t let anything get in our way that will hinder us from giving God the thanks and praises He deserves. “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:15, KJV)
Sometimes we find ourselves caught in the cycle of complaining and focusing on what we’re going through instead of giving thanks to God. Nevertheless, when we start giving thanks in every circumstance, it will transform our outlook and help us to see God at work even in difficult times. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18, NIV)
So be encouraged today and always remember: We should always give thanks to God for everything He does for us. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20, KJV)
Happy Thanksgiving Day.
