Junior Auxiliary of Columbus were thrilled to be working with the children of HEARTS again this summer from May 30 through June 2.
Summer JAM took place at HEARTS After School Tutoring last week, and the theme was “All Things STEM!” A rotation of seven active JA members and about 10 children enjoyed four full days of learning about the human body, space, animal life and the scientific method.
The students enjoyed experiencing chemical reactions with hands-on activities and practiced reading skills along the way. Members took each learning opportunity to help students grow their vocabularies and strengthen their comprehension skills through their daily lessons.
JA would like to thank all of the families who registered their children and allowed the group to work with them during the week. It would also like to thank the HEARTS Director, Lisa Rooker, for her time spent organizing the HEARTS Summer camp and partnering with the organization to help provide these wonderful children with educational summer opportunities!
