The Junior Auxiliary of Columbus has resumed the Feed to Succeed project for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Feed to Succeed provides backpacks of food to children who are dependent on the school system for nutrition and may not be getting enough food to eat at home on the weekends.
Last week, Feed to Succeed officially kicked off and 190 backpacks and food packs were delivered to local schools.
The project was created by the provisional class of 2019-2020 who wanted to expand on the mission of Junior Auxiliary by ensuring the basic human needs of the children in Lowndes County were being met. Food is provided monthly by the Mississippi Food Network and is then organized and delivered by Junior Auxiliary members to West Lowndes Elementary School, Sale Elementary School and Caledonia Middle School.
In addition to supplemental food items, Junior Auxiliary also provides the families with a Thanksgiving Day meal and holiday gifts.
Last academic year, 1,044 food packs were delivered to local children.
Having sufficient nutrition improves their general health, growth, focus, attitude, and better allows them to be the best they can be.
