Well, the day I never thought would come is here. As I am writing this, I am preparing to walk out the doors of The Dispatch for the last time, as Lifestyles Editor anyway.
That’s right, I am leaving The Dispatch and Friday was my last day.
It is in no way a reflection of any negative experiences in my time here or any hostility toward the paper. I simply took another job. A job I have wanted for years. I am not sure I’m at liberty to disclose just what that job is yet, but keep an eye out, an announcement should be coming soon.
That said, I wanted to take the time to say a heartfelt, “Thank you,” to all of my loyal readers and reliable sources who have worked with me in my year here. I appreciate you taking the time to read my stories and columns and offer feedback. I especially loved hearing people say they found a new recipe they love from my weekly food column.
The people I worked with for stories were the best anyone could ask for. I met so many kind people who went out of their way to help me make sure I got everything I needed for a story.
I’m sad to be leaving, but there comes a time when opportunity presents itself and you have no choice but to tag along.
My coworkers were also second to none. I learned so much from them and made friends that I hope will last a lifetime.
On the subject of coworkers, I will be leaving the Lifestyles Editor position in the more-than-capable hands of my friend and colleague Abigail Rochester.
She has already been helping with the section to prepare for this day.
So, I would ask that you all show her the same generosity you showed me.
I can say, I won’t be leaving Columbus, so there’s a good chance you will see me out and about. Don’t hesitate to say hello!
So that’s it. Like a favorite movie or TV show, all good things must come to an end.
I am closing this chapter of my life and opening the next. I look forward to what life has in store for me and I am excited to undertake this new adventure.
So it is goodbye … for now.
