The sound of harmonies that have echoed through the White House, Moscow’s Pushkin Museum and even the Korean Demilitarized Zone will fill Poindexter Hall next week when the Yale Society of Orpheus and Bacchus performs in Columbus.
Known as the SOBs, the all-gender group is the nation’s oldest underclassmen a cappella ensemble. Over its 87-year history, the group has performed everything from jazz and gospel to folk and popular hits from every decade.
This winter, the group is visiting Mississippi to see family and friends of member Noah Lee, YC ’28, a 2024 graduate of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. “It’s a special chance to share our music with our member’s hometown community,” said Lee.
The performance is set for 7–8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Poindexter Hall. MSMS students attend free; student tickets (non-MSMS) are $6, and general admission is $15.
Attendees can register online at yalesobs.betterworld.org/events/society-orpheus-bacchus-columbu.
