■ From Forgotten to Remembered: Reviving the Korean War in the Classroom: Mississippi University for Women hosts a one-day workshop for middle and high school teachers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Fant Memorial Library Tiered Classroom. Participants will explore strategies and resources for teaching the Korean War, including oral histories, memorial analysis, and lesson planning. ■ Arts ‘N Antiques Show & Sale: The Columbus Arts Council is hosting its annual decorative arts and antiques show, featuring dealers and artists from across the south. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
■ Chili Cook-Off: Munson and Brothers Trading Post hosts its annual Chili Cook-Off at 301 Second Ave. N. in Columbus. Participant setup begins at 5:30 p.m., with chili tasting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the winner announcement at 8 p.m. Entry is $25 per participant and $10 to taste. ■ Joshua Meador Neighborhood Tour: Join historian Rufus Ward for a guided walk through Joshua’s Meador neighborhood, featuring talks, a live skit by Spence Andrews, canapes, dessert, and exclusive tours of Wisteria Place and Aldan Hall. ■ Dance to the Music: The Starkville/MSU Symphony Association and The Dance Studio of Tupelo present the Community Chorus in Dance to the Music at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 106 East Lampkin St., Starkville. The program features Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, popular dance hits, live dancers and piano accompaniment. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for ages 17 and under. ■ Caledonia Veterans Day Parade: Caledonia Main Street invites the community to attend their Veterans Day parade. The parade will line up at Ola J. Pickett Park at 10:15 a.m. and begin walking at 11 a.m.
■ Caledonia Community Veteran Luncheon: Veterans, active-duty service members and reservists from Caledonia and surrounding communities are invited to a luncheon honoring past and present military service. The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m., immediately following the Veterans Day parade, at the Caledonia Community Center. The menu includes pulled pork or grilled chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, bread, dessert and a drink. ■ World War II Story: At 10:30 a.m., Lucy Senter and her family will share their father’s World War II story at the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum in Starkville, recounting his plane being shot down and his survival journey through entries from his wartime diary. ■ Starkville Christmas Parade: The Famous Maroon Band leads a host of floats from community businesses and organizations for an old-fashioned Main Street Christmas celebration. The 2025 parade theme is “Building Christmas Cheer.” The parade runs from 6 to 7 p.m. in Starkville.
