Two Alabama artists will be featured at the Columbus Arts Council during the month of October.
Tony Brock, of Tuscaloosa, and Taylor Hollingsworth, of Birmingham, will bring two distinct styles of art to the Rosenzweig Arts Center.
A reception for the new exhibits will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday. Hollingsworth, who is also a singer-songwriter and guitarist, will play acoustic guitar.
Shane Kinder, creative director for the CAC, said he has known both artists for a while.
“I just never realized until I started working at the arts council, how many artists I knew,” he said.
Brock describes himself as a “Painter of Stuff,” Kinder said, noting his works tend to be vibrant, pop and look almost like they came out of a comic book.
Brock’s work will be featured in the main gallery.
Hollingsworth’s art will be in Artist Alley.
Kinder noted that he has been a fan of Hollingsworth’s music for some time. He is a member of Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band and Dead Finders.
Hollingsworth is a mixed-media artist, who combines painting with everyday objects.
The exhibits will be on display though Oct. 29, Kinder said.
