COLUMBUS – Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle was among five Mississippi hospitals recognized for top performance in Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Comprehensive Quality Model program.
The program evaluates hospitals on patient safety, adherence to evidence-based guidelines, effective health information management and patient outcomes. Baptist Golden Triangle earned the top spot in three categories: overall performance, sepsis management and cardiac care, during Blue Cross & Blue Shield’s third annual Quality Forum.
“Receiving recognition from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi’s Comprehensive Quality Model Program in multiple quality categories is a great honor,” said Rob Coleman, CEO and administrator of Baptist Golden Triangle. “This recognition demonstrates Baptist Golden Triangle staff’s commitment to providing safe and high-quality care for the community.”
Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven also earned a top-performing designation for plan all-cause readmissions.
Thirty-one Mississippi hospitals participated in the program. Trend data from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi indicate statewide improvements in sepsis care, maternity care and cardiac care.
“The Comprehensive Quality Model is guiding us toward better healthcare for all Mississippians,” said Dr. Lee Greer, chief medical officer at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi. “The progress we’ve seen is a direct result of collaborative work shared at events like the forum.”
Baptist Golden Triangle has 323 beds and more than 100 physicians and surgeons representing nearly every medical specialty. The hospital offers a full range of services, including a cancer center, behavioral health care, rehabilitation programs and community education programs.
