It’s time for a new strength of leadership and a new direction at City Hall. It was not that long ago that we were embroiled in a costly Lowndes County residents against annexation battle that cost the taxpayers of this city time and money that could have gone to much better use. We now know who that was all about and who led the charge under false pretenses. The same individuals are now asking you to elect them to be your next mayor or re-elect them back for another term to do more of the same mismanagement, costly and bad decisions, ineffective leadership, more bickering and misbehaving with very little or no vision for the city of Columbus!
Well for one I’m not buying it now and come election day you shouldn’t either. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out something is broken in the way our city is operating, and it is up to us to fix it without any delay.
You will not hear about the money the city has lost in annexation litigation, money sent back because we didn’t have our house in order to spend it when we were supposed to, departments not functioning properly and personnel behaving badly no you won’t hear about councilmen berating other public employees in council meetings.
I know about how things should be handled in a professional manner with respect, precision and expertise and to put it mildly I’m not seeing anything close to that down at City Hall.
Where do we go from here? I can answer that in two words: Leroy Brooks. I have surveyed the field as many of you have and when I add up all the pluses and minuses, strengths and weaknesses, ability to get things done from day one, experience in government, somebody who has been involved in billions of dollar projects, contracts, deals and investments in Lowndes County and the City of Columbus. We are rolling with Leroy and we ask you to join us in helping to bring this city back together. If you know anything about Leroy Brooks then you would know that what you have seen for over 40 years of him representing and fighting for the people and speaking truth to power will not change not one iota! Leroy will do something about the dilapidated and embarrassing housing blight that now exists in many of our neighborhoods, attack the underpinnings of crime infested neighborhoods with more community policing and better enforcement resources, bring together all segments of our community to work together on the issues that need it. We are stronger together Columbus with a Mayor Leroy Brooks.
