The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System (CLPLS) will return to its regularly scheduled programming by hosting Mother Goose Story Hour in person every week on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. In addition to the weekly story hours, August programs will include another early literacy story hour, writing workshops and resume and computer skill assistance.
“We’re excited to return to our regular Mother Goose story hours for our littlest library patrons,” said Tori Hopper, children’s and teen services and programming coordinator at CLPLS. “We’re also continuing our Wee Baby story times on Fridays at 10:30 a.m., as well as our regular Anime and Manga Club. We aim to continue to be a space where patrons of all ages feel welcome and included.”
A children’s jeopardy night will be held at 6 p.m. Aug 30, while the Anime and Manga Club will meet Tuesdays on Aug. 10 and Aug. 17. Writing to Heal, an adult writing workshop, will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
Free computer classes set at two levels will take place from Aug. 16, and Aug. 26 and will review skills including keyboard and mouse usage, internet basics, typing and more. Resume appointments are available for booking upon request by calling (662) 329-5300.
“As our busy summer comes to a close, our August programs are focused on connection,” said Clara Ortega, adult services and programming coordinator. “Be it a job, a new skill, space to try something new or finding community, our Adult Services department has something for everyone.”
Ortega is also launching a recently developed program in August, The Columbus Creative Collective (C-3). C-3 is designed to connect patrons and community members with creative resources, opportunities and partnerships. The program is open to all ages and all levels, styles and media of creation.
For information about programs and resources from the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System, community members are encouraged to call the library at (662) 329-5300.
