A Columbus businessman will soon be extradited to Florida on two felony charges after being arrested on Thursday by Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Edward Lawrence Kidd, 38, owner and operator of Kidd’s Crawfish, was arrested in connection with two outstanding warrants from Bay County, Florida – felony cyberstalking and felony false reporting to Child Protection Services, according to a LCSO press release.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch Kidd would be in LCSO custody until next week when Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies will come to take him back to Florida.
“They forwarded us the warrant and asked us to pick him up,” Hawkins said. “The charges are recent from what I understand, but I don’t know how old. … We’ve got a hold on him, and they’re supposed to come get him next week.”
Kidd was convicted in Lowndes County back on Nov. 15, 2015, for uttering forgery and on Feb. 10, 2016, for statutory rape. He is a registered sex offender.
LCSO’s press release said Kidd has a history of criminal charges including possession of cocaine, child endangerment and kidnapping.
