A man has been charged with murdering his wife Thursday morning at a Cedar Street apartment in Caledonia.
Wayne Sydney Fraser, 45, is accused of fatally shooting Natalie Ryan-Fraser, 55, just after 8 a.m. Deputies responded to a welfare check at the apartment and found Natalie dead. Wayne was apprehended at the scene, where deputies also recovered a 9-millimeter handgun, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
The suspect was working in Caledonia and living in the apartment, according to authorities. The victim, who lives in San Angelo, Texas, and worked as a senior English instructor at Angelo State University, was visiting her husband, Coroner Greg Merchant said.
Hawkins said the investigation is in the “preliminary stages.” Wayne Fraser is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
