The 21st annual Southside Blues Festival presented by the Southside Festival Committee runs at Townsend Park, with gates opening at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday for a men's/women's softball tournament, Youth Night Thursday, and live entertainment Saturday at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Winged sprint cars from the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour headline racing at Magnolia Motor Speedway at 7:30 p.m., joined by Dirt Late Models, Modified Sportsman, Late Model Sportsman, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and Crown Vics. A fireworks display is planned at intermission. Call 662-240-3478.

A barbecue cookoff at Ola J. Pickett Park in Caledonia begins at 6 p.m., with judging followed by leftover BBQ plates sold at the concession stand. A fireworks show presented by Caledonia Main Street follows at 9 p.m. Entries are accepted through July 2.
