COLUMBUS — A man is in to police custody after allegedly stabbing two people in a car on the way to Vibrant Church Sunday morning.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department took the suspect — identified so far only as a 27-year-old man — into custody Sunday a little after 11 a.m., shortly after responding to a call about a stabbing on Holly Hills Road, according to a press release from CPD.
According to the release, six people were in a vehicle on the way to church when two passengers began arguing. The suspect allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed two other passengers — a 22-year-old male friend and a 15-year-old female relative. After the stabbing, the suspect got out of the car and tried to run away, but was caught by officers.
A bystander on the way to the same church took the 22-year-old victim to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, while another private vehicle took the 15-year-old to the same hospital. Both injuries appeared to be superficial and both victims should make full recoveries, according to the release.
The victims have not filed charges, said Assistant Police Chief Fred Shelton.
