Heritage Academy wins in five to sweep Columbus
While it may have taken a while to get to the end, the Heritage Academy volleyball team found the wait was worth it.
Heritage Academy turned back Columbus High 3-2 in a spirited, back-and-forth two-hour tussle Tuesday night at the Stark Recreation Center on the Mississippi University for Women campus.
In its first season of volleyball competition, Heritage Academy completed a season-sweep of Columbus with the 26-24, 26-24, 17-25, 23-25, 15-11 victory.
Top 10 foes meet when EMCC faces Northwest
The nation’s lone junior college football matchup of top 10 teams this week will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Senatobia when fourth-ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College plays host to eighth-ranked East Mississippi C.C. at Bobby Franklin Field.
WLSM-FM (107.1) will broadcast the game. which is the division opener for both teams.

Brown, Clay County team win fishing tournament
West Point’s Gene Brown had a good feeling after the opening round of the Mississippi TBF Bass Federation State Championship.
On Saturday, the good feeling was rewarded as Brown built on his opening-round lead to secure championship honors in the annual event held at Columbus Lake, Aliceville Lake, and Aberdeen Lake.
