Innocence

I suppose that I grew-up in an age of innocence. I was born in 1950 and grew in my naiveté through the years. It was a time when you walked to school and rode the bus to downtown Columbus. Children of my age could go anywhere alone and there would be, surely, someone along the way that knew you or your family and could get you home if you needed their help.

Starkville Quarterback Club set for 47th year

Mississippi State University football fans are encouraged to join the Starkville Quarterback Club.

The club, which will open its 47th season of weekly meetings on Aug. 30, is devoted to promoting MSU football. Club President Tyson Gair said the club expects a large membership this year with all the excitement that surrounded the team’s 31-3 victory against the University of Mississippi and its 23-17 win against Wake Forest University in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30 that helped the team finish 7-6.

Freeze wants effort in practice to carry over

OXFORD — The University of Mississippi football team practiced Saturday adjacent to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium before a crowd of a few hundred faithful on a sunny, warm morning.
